Atmosphere
Great night-time buzz. Lots of glo-sticks everywhere and the weather can be anything from quite reasonable to freezing cold. Good race for people who complain about getting up at 5AM for races.

Overview
The Banff Winterstart 5-Miler is the last race of the season for most people. It starts at 7PM at the Banff Caribou Lodge and runners head out in the dark (complete with glo-sticks) along Banff Avenue to the Rocky Mountain Resort and then turn right to the top of the hill on Tunnel Mountain Road before turning around and running back.
This race is a fundraiser for the Banff Alpine Racers and the Bow Valley Quikies Ski Club.
This race sells out very quickly.

Race Report
This was my first time running this race, you have to sign up early as it sells out fast.
Great race package, running glove/mitts PLUS beer tickets, how cool is that??
Walked over to the race start around 6:30 and picked up a glo-stick. Temperature was around +5C with a little light rain and the road looked pretty good considering the recent snow.
