Atmosphere
Lots of local runners and plenty of local ski racers show up at this event. Great home baked goodies at the finish line.

Overview
The Canmore SpringThaw race is a great start to the season. The race wasn't held in 2006 or 2007 due to the renovations at Canmore Nordic Centre. It does not seem to be in the works for 2008 and may have unfortunately slipped into the deadpool.
The race is hosted by The National Cross Country Ski Team Members and The Canmore / Bow Valley Bed and Breakfast Association and serves as a fundraiser for Cross Country Canada. To date the annual race has provided funds for a variety of equipment which is used by athletes and the general public at the Bill Warren Training Center which is the National Training Center for Cross Country Skiing.
