Awards

Powderface gives (beautiful) awards as well as cash prizes to the top 3 male & female finishers in the 21km and 42km races. There are no specific age groupings. Excellent draw prizes are offered to all finishers, some of the best I've seen at races.
Good post-race food too.

Atmosphere

Very supportive race with lots of cheering for all finishers. The marathon starts 2 hours before the half so there's lots of action at the finish line.

Overview

The Powderface race is a real classic. Set in the heart of Kananaskis Country, there are two (equally grueling) options.
The 21 half marathon is a great introduction for anyone looking to increase their distance without committing to a full blown trail marathon. The full 42km marathon is as challenging as they come, winning times are in the 4 hour+ category and these are top runners so that should give you an idea of how hard this course is.

Location

Station Flats Trailhead (14km West of Bragg Creek)
