Overview
Tunnel Mountain is "The Little Hill That Could!". It's there rain or shine, sun or snow. It doesn't matter if you only have a half hour, you can still fit it in. We often forget it or malign it but really it is everyone's friend. Use it for training, use it for fun, use it to clear your head before or after work. Use it to get a great, quick workout and an awesome view of Banff.
Trailhead
The main trailhead is on St. Julien Road, just follow signs for the Banff Centre. look for the parking lot on your left after the last house.
Car: Drive up St. Julien Road and park in the parking lot on your left just before the top of the hill.
Run: Run up St. Julien Road and look for the parking lot on your left. This is the start of the trail.

Trail
A perfect trail that is there year round. You'll notice that the right hand switchbacks are fairly flat while the left handers have more elevation.
Connector Options:
There are several options that join to or run off from Tunnel. Don't cut the switchbacks but keep an eye open for legitimate trail options off the main trail.

Safety
Very close to town but the same precautions apply. Watch out for wildlife and let walkers know you are there, it's very easy to spook people without meaning to.
Stick to the trail, there are some steep drop offs on the back side. Railings have been put in place in recent years but use your common sense.
Tips
Run it more than once. Use it for training up or down, run slow up and hard down or vice versa. Add it to the end of a long run. If you don't have time for a run, run Tunnel, you can be up and down in less than 40 minutes and you'll feel great for doing it. Run it at night with a headlamp.
